COLD CATHODE LAMPS WILL CONTINUE TO LIT OUR SIGNS .
EUROPEAN COMMISSION ACCEPT THEIR CONFORMITY
LATEST INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS REGARDING RoHS JULY 2011.
Luc Steegmans, the ESF President, continues to work with the consultants to the European Commission with regard to the classification of Tailor Made Cold Cathode Lamps (TMCCFL) for use in neon signs and cold cathode lighting within the RoHS Regulations.
1) He has been advised that Tailor Made Cold Cathode Discharge Lamps for advertising, architectural lighting and art do comply with RoHS under category 4f.
The ESF Technical Committee strongly recommends all neon sign makers and cold cathode lighting lamp manufacturers publicise that neon signs and/or the related cold cathode lighting conform to Category 4(f) of Annex III of the RoHS Regulations.
2) Also, Luc and the Technical Committee will continue to work with the European Commission and it's consultants to ensure the future of this industry. We believe that there is no reason to assume our type of Cold Cathode Lamps, and their derivative commercial 'neon', are being phased out, and we strongly believe they have a bright future as manufacturers are organising themselves to commit to programmes that not only enhance quality but also make the products comply even more with growing expectations and demands of modern society.
